Well I'm getting there :)
So far:
- Hard Disk repartitined - Vista and MCE2005 installed as dual boot. - The 3.2Ghz P4 machine built a year ago for MCE2004 gets a rating of 5 overall which seems pretty good!
But a LOT of missing devices / problems:
- HP Photosmart 8450 - driver will not install as the OS is too new for it. - Anti Virus - AVG will not install - causes a BSOD - any recommendations as to which trial to sign up for? - Looks like I will have to load Office 2003 to access Exchange mail - Anyone tried the sync capabilities to see if they work with WM5.0 PDA's? - ATI Driver for the X800XT card - can I load the 5270 Vista driver, or will it cause problems? - 2 or 3 USB devices for which I'm trying to work out where / if I can get viable drivers - BT keyboard will not work with the bot manager, I have to plug in a wired model to switch OS's (half expected).
General - Am I okay to start installing apps I used under MCE2005 and see if they work? FTP apps, graphics, etc? Will Maxthon work I wonder?
Directory Opus is what I normally use but I have a horrible feeling it will fall flat on it's face. So..... is there a list of apps anywhere which folks have got working under Vista?
And lastly - any tips for fun things to try?

Getting there
It's difficult to find the "absolute list" for apps working in Vista. Generally simple applications written in Visual Studio will work because of the .NET Framework, and a lot of applications work with compatibility mode on and even without it - the apps will see a version of Windows, not necessarily understand what version it is but realise it can be run, so who knows.
However, sometimes it's just a case of try it and if it works, that's plain good luck :o)

Now replying using Windows Mail :)
Gotcha, well so far I'm making slow progress Outlook in the mnain is being a problem as it is refusing to link to my Exchange Server foe some reason, AVG AV refuses to install, and thats all I've tried really. Decided to use Windows mail for news instead of 40Dialogue as I have a feeling that will fail.
Directory Opus will be the next one to try :) And I'll bet that fails!
Cheers!

Hi Andre, well the rating has now dropped to 4 now that I've installed a few apps. But it is a P4 3.2Ghz Prescott (HT) running on the ABit IC7-Max3 Mobo with 2Gb Fast high speed RAM, ATI X800XT graphics car, and a fast SATA drive.
The rating runs as:
P4 CPU 3.2Ghz - 4.1 2GB RAM - 5.4 Primary HD - 5.6 Graphics - 5.9 Gaming Graphics - 5.6
Which gives me the 4 total. What do you have which builds the 2 figure?
Daron
